Partial dentures

Dr. Shore can give you affordable, pain-free dentures.

Most patients never really expect to lose their adult teeth. Therefore, when it does happen, it can be difficult to decide upon the best method to restore the full form and function of your smile. But if you need a minimally invasive and affordable option, partial dentures may be your solution. Partial dentures can be used to replace one or more teeth and can be easily taken in and out of the mouth for cleaning. They consist of a denture base, which mimics natural gum tissue, and denture teeth, which are permanently attached to a supporting framework. The partial denture is secured using your remaining teeth via a clasp or other retentive device. If you have an incomplete smile and need immediate tooth replacement, schedule a partial denture consultation appointment with Dr. Shore, today.

About Partial Dentures

Discover Partial Dentures for Tooth Replacement
Partial dentures are usually made of metal and gum colored plastic. They look very similar to orthodontic retainers. The first step in making a partial denture is the preparation of the surrounding teeth. During this phase Dr. Shore may slightly reshape the teeth that the partial denture will use for support. Next, she will take an accurate impression of the upper and lower arches of your mouth and bite, and send them to a dental lab for fabrication. Once the denture teeth are set in wax, Dr. Shore will do a final check to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the partial denture's fit and appearance. The final step is for the laboratory to change the wax into hard gum colored acrylic to allow Dr. Shore to deliver your partial denture.
What Are Your Partial Denture Options?
New dental techniques have been developed to fabricate partial dentures, including:

Precision partial dentures have the same metal and plastic structure as traditional partials; however, they avoid the use of metal clasps. Innovatively designed precision partials use unique attachments that combine with complementary attachments built into special crowns. With precision partials:
  • The denture fit is healthier for your gums and teeth
  • Retention is increased by the snap fit of the attachments
  • Your chewing ability is enhanced
  • Your smile is free from any unsightly metal clasps
  • There is less packing of food than with metal clasps
Implant Supported Partial Dentures: Dental implants give additional support to the partial denture. In additional to all of the benefits listed above for the precision partial dentures, implant supported partial dentures also:

Preserve the height and width of your bone. Implants prevent the bone loss that normally occurs after teeth are lost.

Better chewing function due to the implant support under the dentureBetter chewing function due to the implant support under the denture

Why Choose New Partial Denture Option to Replace Your Missing Teeth?
Partial dentures are relatively low cost when compared to crowns or bridges on dental implants or natural teeth. The partial denture process is often less invasive, which is great for patients who may be medically compromised or unable to undergo a more extensive dental procedure.
